----------------------------------------

To better understand and influence the ecology of Arizona's arts & cultural sector and provoke new high-level thinking about how to increase participation beyond the short-term, Alliance for Audience launched (in March, 2011) a secure and confidential means to analyze patterns of audience participation among Arizona arts & cultural organizations.

This information asset provides powerful analytical tools that enable arts & cultural organizations to become smarter and more effective in their own efforts while revealing areas of mutual need and opportunity in their service to all Arizona communities.

The Census/Community Database is conducted via the “eMerge” technology of TRG Arts, which enables authorized users to conduct research and compile dynamic direct mail lists in an environment that is highly secure and which carefully guards confidentiality and protects privacy concerns.

Participation in the Census/Database is available exclusively to member organizations of Alliance for Audience and the "basic" level of engagement is FREE OF CHARGE. (Additional services are available for purchase from TRG Arts, but their use is neither obligated nor required.)

Under no circumstances does Alliance for Audience or TRG Arts share, deliver, or export any data from the community database without the express consent and permission of the list owner. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. We are a very small organization and our bulk mailing is done by volunteers rather than with a mail-house. Can we still access the Database for mailing lists?
    • In order to assure the security and privacy of household records, the "default" expectation is that mailing lists drawn from the Database are available only to mail houses, and then, only with strict rules for confidentiality and one-time use. Any deviation from this expectation must be approved, in writing, by the involved list-owners - and is subject to the separate approval of Alliance for Audience.
  2. Can we access lists of e-mail addresses through the Community Database?
    • While you can upload and access e-mail addresses drawn from YOUR OWN database, e-mail addresses are never exchangeable BETWEEN organizations as the Can-Spam Act prohibits the sending of unsolicited e-mail messages.
  3. Will there be an opportunity to join the Census/Community Database at a later date?
    • Yes, there will be an annual "open enrollment" period in which organizations may join but that date has not yet been determined.
    • For a $150 fee, organizations may join "off-cycle" anytime they like. Please contact Matt Lehrman at MLehrman@allianceforaudience.org for more info.

Please send additional questions to Census@allianceforaudience.org and we'll continue to update these FAQ's.
